I watched Iron Man with hubby the other day. The best parts were all the times he (hubby) got this big grin on his face, pumped his fist and went "awww YEAHH", his eyes shining like a twelve-year old's.<3
But why did they have to turn Obadiah into such a cackling maniac at the end? He was so much better as the affable-yet-corrupt uncle figure. Pepper Potts Paltrow really grated on me. Whether Pepper Potts had more backbone in the comics or not, I'm not sure (she probably did - Marvel tends to substitute backbone for characterization when it comes to female characters), but as a foil for Stark, she was horrible. Lip-quivering, stuttering, wide-eyed and constantly trod upon. Can we please stop glorifying assholes?
