My cat Busy has entered a phase where he is extremely needy. Or maybe he always was and I just didn't pick up on it? He's kind of an introvert kitty, usually, and Markus is top cat, so when he is around, Busy tends to keep to himself.
Busy is a snacker. He will only eat a few bites at a time, then cover his bowl with whatever lies around (usually a bra or a dirty sock) and then roam restlessly. We feed him in our bedroom, behind closed door, because he needs a special diet and we don't want either cat to eat the other's food. He always starts meowing loudly after two minutes or so, but we can't let him out until Markus is done. This is a hassle, because we can't feed him ten times a day, but I don't want him to be hungry either. We've tried weaning him off this behavior with a strict two-times-a-day schedule, but had to give up after a month of sleepless nights and ruined carpets from him scratching underneath the bedroom door.
It wasn't until the other day, when I was in the bedroom with him during feeding time, that I realized he might have more needs than just food. He came up to me, purring loudly, reaching up to me with soft paws. I started petting him and he flipped out - rubbing, rolling, rumbling. He loved it and he didn't want me to stop. Ever. When I did anyway, he went back to his bowl and resumed eating. Then he covered it again and came for more pets. Then he ate some more and then he jumped up on my bed and started washing himself contentedly.
And since then, he's just insatiable. He wants me to pet him whenever I see him, sometimes even when Markus is around. If I don't, he whines and meows. I have to feed and pet him before I go to bed if I'm to get any sleep at all. Last night I conked out while he ate and I woke briefly, from him wandering around hesitantly on my covers in a way that Markus would never do (no, Markus would walk confidently up to my head, then start digging at the covers, then curl up against my chest under the sheets, only to adjust his position every minute while flexing his claws against my skin). We both fell asleep and when I woke up, it was from him whining at the door. I got up to let him out, but as soon as I sat up, he was on me like lightning, purring and preening and pleading for pets. So I petted him, again and again, then laid back down and the process repeated itself.
This is...wonderful, and sweet and touching, but it's also kind of draining. I wonder if he just went so long being withdrawn that he couldn't take it anymore and now the need is flowing over? Or is there something else going on?
Oh well. Other than that, I'm merely tired and have links to share for anyone who's bored:
Games:
Wonderputt - a golf game. Perhaps the cutest, loveliest, most brilliant golf game that ever came for free. There are frogs and submarines and torpedoes and cows being abducted by UFOs! Let your cursor hover over the ball and you get an arrow that you can spin around in whatever direction you want. Pull the cursor back and the arrow will widen and turn red - the wider and redder the arrow, the more force in your putt. After you've played the first 18 holes you unlock the "Wonder Mode", where you have to complete a rainbow by hitting every rainbow colored drop on the course. You can also win achievements as you go. Have fun!
Tanooky Tracks - Tanookys are mischievous little spirits that like to hide in objects that resemble themselves. This house is infested with them! Find the hiding spots of all twelve Tanookys and lure them out by either attracting them or repelling them. A hint book is provided, with riddles for each Tanooky, designed to give you a clue. (Here's a walkthrough if you get stuck).
Vision - one of the most gorgeous escape-the-room games ever created, and a well-made game, too. It's just stunning from start to finish. (Here's a walkthrough, just in case.)
This is just because...do I really need to explain myself? :

Oh, and have a kitten.
Now: I will draw.
